Empowering Molecular Point-of-Care Diagnostics with Timesaving, Cost-Effective, and Ambient-Stable Chemistries

August 18, 2025 | 09:30 am EDT
Track: Enabling Point-of-Care Diagnostics – https://www.nextgenerationdx.com/point-of-care-diagnostics

Summary/Abstract:

Point-of-care diagnostics are reshaping how and where patients access healthcare. However, challenges around enzyme stabilization, charge, and logistics can limit their reach. In this session, William Ferreira explores how established and emerging molecular techniques—like qPCR, isothermal amplification, and NGS—can be adapted using ambient-stable reagents to authorize rapid, scalable, and cost-effective testing at the point of tend . Discover how Meridian’s technologies endorse the development of assays suitable for clinical labs, pharmacies, and at-home use.

Speaker Bio:

William is an R&D Team Leader at Meridian Life Science. He earned his PhD in molecular microbiology in 2019, investigating C. difficile pathogenesis at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. Subsequently, he held the position of Senior Scientist at Sporegen Ltd, leading diverse research projects

    Next Generation Dx Summit

    August 19 -20, 2024 – Washington, DC

Please join us as Beaufort’s SVP, Global Regulatory and Quality, Karin Hughes, Ph.D. will be presenting at the 16th Annual Next Generation Dx Summit. Her presentation, “Clinical Trials with CDx—Navigating the Complexity of the IVDR“, will be at 10am on Tuesday, August 20th.

    Presentation Summary:

The implementation of Regulation (EU) 2017/746 (IVDR) has heightened the complexity of clinical trials using companion diagnostics (CDx). With Eudamed lacking a functional Clinical Investigations and Performance Studies module, sponsors must navigate individual national procedures, submitting applications, modification notifications, and final reports to each Member State where CDx studies are conducted. This presentation addresses these challenges and offers insights into solutions derived from supporting pharmaceutical and diagnostic manufacturers engaged in combined studies across the EU.

Appointments are being scheduled now to discuss this topic and other emerging trends that can impact your product development.

Diagnostics is becoming increasingly data-intensive - from liquid biopsy and spatial transcriptomics to evolving regulatory expectations. AI is essential, but only if it’s built on clean, contextualized, and compliant data.

That’s where Elucidata comes in. We offer AI-powered data solutions purpose-built for diagnostics teams. Our platform helps you structure unstructured biomedical data, integrate multi-omics and clinical sources, and make that data usable for downstream AI/ML applications - whether you're validating biomarkers, building companion diagnostics, or preparing for IVDR.

At this year’s Dx Summit, we’re looking forward to conversations with diagnostic leaders who are serious about putting AI to work - not just in theory, but in production.

    Let's have a conversation
