Nicks next door restaurant in los gatos
Los Gatos Can’t Get Enough of Nick
Hugely popular chef Nick Difu recently added to his mini restaurant empire with Nick’s Next Door — big, bustling and with super food.
(This was published by South Bay Accent in October, 2012. More recently, this location was combined with Nick’s on Main and this is now what the restaurant is called.)
Chef Nick Difu is the pied piper of Los Gatos; diners follow him anywhere. Most recently, they’re thronging to Nick’s Next Door, opened in May to supposedly handle the overflow from diminutive Nick’s on Main, his popular, four-year-old restaurant. The trouble is, Nick’s Next Door (it’s actually across the street and up a tad) has been so swamped with eaters lusting after his extroverted style of belt-loosening, beguiling cooking that Nick may need to keep opening new outposts.
Nobody deserves this success more than Nick, a local boy who spent years doing his flavorful thing at a string of Los Gatos dining spots before finally becoming his own boss in 2008. The gregarious Sicilian-American not only knows how to turn out upscale comfort food, he makes sure his guests get cheerful

“I wanted to create a restaurant where people feel at home,” Difu told Los Gatos Patch in March of 2011 about Nick's on Main.
While his first restaurant is touted as an American bistro serving California cuisine for lunch and dinner, his new venture focuses on late diners and is located across the street from his first namesake. It officially opened last month and begins dinner service at 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

The closing of Sweet Tomatoes due to COVID-19 was sad because of all my childhood memories there, but this! Omggg 😭😭😭 my favorite restaurant!!! 💔💔💔 It has been a long time away from my blog, but I am going to mourn the loss and blog about this SAD news.
Nick’s Next Door in Los Gatos has been my favorite restaurant, something special to my mom and me, for many years. Ever since our first visit in 2013, we were won over by the food, ambience, service, and charm of the fancy but cozy restaurant. Since then, we had gone at least 10 times and brought many family and friends to the restaurant on special occasions. My mom had gone even more times with friends for lunch until they stopped serving lunch. We would often see Chef Nick at the restaurant, greeting us at the door, checking on our table, and doing the same for the other customers whether they were regulars or newcomers. It was a restaurant that had people coming back again and again to their local favorite!
Serena first told me about this South Bay restaurant, even though she had not yet been at the time, and that it gets booked up at least a week in advance. My first visit was for my 24th birt

Namaste’s Chef Dilip creates authentic yet uniquely flavorful Indian fare including curries, dahls, na’an, tandoori chicken as well as drink favorites. The restaurant also has locations in Monterey and Santa Cruz and is a welcomed addition to Los Gatos’s culinary options.
